Climate-neutral pledge from Vaude

Outdoor brand Vaude has announced the goal of making production throughout the whole of its supply chain climate-neutral.

Vaude has been climate-neutral at its headquarters in Tettnang in southern Germany since 2012. It has joined a global initiative called Science Based Targets (SBTs), one of 29 companies in Germany to do so. Under this initiative, companies commit themselves to science-based climate targets that are in line with the requirements of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5 °C.

Using a step-by-step plan, Vaude will record the energy consumption of its 45 producers in the global supply chain, including upstream production of materials, and then work to reduce CO2 emissions. Important areas of focus will be the transition to renewable energies and the use of resource-conserving materials in the manufacturing process.

By 2024, the company said, at least 90 % of all its products will have more than 50% bio-based or recycled material content.
