Rwanda still hopeful over banana and pineapple fibres

Export revenues coming into Rwanda from the US under the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) collapsed in 2008 compared to the year before, with the coffee industry particularly badly hit.

However, officials in the African country have pointed out that the greatest benefit from AGOA has been achieved by small-scale operations and that areas such as fibres and textiles from plants such as banana and pineapple still offered good opportunities.
