Textile training for Nigerian youth

According to reports, the local government in Nigeria’s Sokodo state are to implement a skills acquisition programme for young, unemployed people in the area. As part of the programme, students will learn a wide range of skills including skills relating to textile construction and finishing.

A monthly allowance of N5000 ($32) will be given to each attendee providing they attend the programme for at least 17 days a month. At the end of the course, free tools and funding will be provided in order to help the young people set up their own businesses.

Other skills they can learn include computing, electronics, carpentry and auto mechanics.
