BASF to increase BDO and BDO-derivative prices

30/09/2009

Effective October 1, or as existing contracts permit, BASF SE is increasing its European selling prices for: 1.4 Butanediol (BDO) by EUR 150/metre); and Tetrahydrofuran (THF); Polytetramethylene ether glycol; N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone (NMP); and Gamma Butyrolactone (GBL) by EUR 100/metre.

According to the chemicals company, the price adjustment is related to unsatisfactory margins and is necessary “to ensure that BASF can continue to offer quality products and services to its customers”.

BDO and its derivatives are used to produce elastic spandex fibres, polyurethanes, solvents and engineering plastics.
