REI focuses on baselayers and warm weather apparel
Outdoor gear and clothing cooperative Recreational Equipment, Inc (REI) presented its latest gear and apparel for autumn 2010 during the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City (January 21-24).
The products on show, which will be available from August, include its Moisture Transfer System (MTS) baselayer series, as well as new and updated fitness, backcountry, travel, urban and kids gear and apparel.
REI’s MTS baselayer range uses Polartec’s Power Dry fabric and the new line is said to offer improved wicking and faster drying times. It will be available for men and women in a variety of styles and in three weights: lightweight, midweight and heavyweight.
REI also unveiled its new OXT ActiveStretch tops and bottoms for fitness enthusiasts and hikers who need warmer layering pieces. The garments combine four-way stretch and high-tech fabric for better performance and comfort. Meanwhile, its Airflyte running jackets for runners have a breathable eVent membrane which allows sweat vapour to escape and repels rain.
Other highlights include: updated Shuksan and Kulshan shell jackets using eVent fabrics, Vislon zips and Recco reflectors; the new REI Double Diamond Ski Pack and Fall Line Ski Pack which allow people to carry skis/snowboards, avalanche rescue gear and other backcountry essentials; and the new men’s Torridon Jacket made with Schoeller fabric for travel.
