New board member at REI

Specialist outdoor and sports retail cooperative REI has appointed Dr Stephen Lockhart to fill an open position on its board of directors.
Dr Lockhart is an anaesthesiologist and chief medical officer for healthcare association Sutter Health in California.
He enjoys climbing, backpacking, running and cycling. He has a long-standing passion for the environment, education and mentorship of young people. He is chair of the board of directors of NatureBridge, an organisation that provides environmental science education to 40,000 young people annually in national parks.
“We are very fortunate to have Stephen join the board and look forward to his involvement and leadership on behalf of the co-op’s membership,” said Sally Jewell, REI president and CEO. “His business acumen and commitment to the outdoors make him a welcome addition.”
