Germany-based sports apparel company Falke has launched a new running collection for spring-summer 2010 featuring Advansa’s Biophyl.

One highlights of the new collection is the Idaho short-sleeve shirt, which is distinctive with its clean-cut lines and is soft and comfortable to wear because of the Biophyl content.

“The running collection is tailored to the needs of Falke customers who, as consumers looking for a specific experience in their sportswear, also place special emphasis on cutting edge designs in addition to health,” says company spokesperson Kristina Falke. “We strive to associate our name and products with the notion of maximum quality and design. With Biophyl knitwear, there is also an ecological component that sets new standards in our collection with regard to technical innovation and high-tech functionality that also addresses sustainability, which is becoming an increasingly important issue to environmentally conscious consumers.

Biophyl fabrics are produced from polyester yarns based on a unique PTT polymer. The yarns not only offer brilliant colours and stretch and recovery properties, they also give polyester fabrics a softness and touch similar to nylon.

According to Advansa, 37% of the polymer used in Biophyl is made from renewable material resulting in a reduction of up to 63% of CO2 emissions compared with nylon.
