30/06/2010
Mr Palmer said on making his decision public: “It has been a long journey, full of excitement as well as a huge amount of work; I feel I have worked 20 years in the last five. I have created a great brand and solid foundation and I am confident our new chief executive, Stuart Sawyer, will continue to build a successful business from it.”
He said he was looking forward to the chance to "recharge my batteries and see some of the world for pleasure rather than business”.
For his part, Stuart Sawyer commented: “I have worked closely with Richard over the last 18 months, six months as chief executive. Richard has done an incredible job to bring the technology from concept to market and build such a strong brand. Having travelled myself with my family a few years ago, I know Richard will benefit greatly from such a well deserved break.”
Mr Palmer retains his shareholding and will continue to be involved with the company as a director and member of the board.
