New Intertek testing lab opens
Quality and safety solutions provider Intertek has opened its first consumer goods testing laboratory for textiles, apparel and soft home furnishings in Seoul, South Korea.
Intertek says it established the laboratory in response to growing demand from textile manufacturers, suppliers and exporters in the region for efficient, cost-effective quality and safety testing.
The 55,000 square-foot laboratory in Seongsu-dong is close to manufacturing sites and customers’ buying offices, facilitating a quick response to changing textile and apparel regulations and global industry standards. It will provide a range of services including fibre identification, flammability testing, care label instructions, performance testing and eco-textile certification. It also offers consultation and training services.
“Intertek has been highly regarded as a testing and quality solutions partner across a variety of industries in Korea for more than 40 years,” said Calvin Yam, Regional President, Asia Pacific at Intertek. “Intertek’s reputation for efficiency and rapid response has earned us the largest market share of textile testing in the world and we are excited to now offer this expertise to manufacturers, suppliers and exporters in Korea.”
The company has a vast network comprising more than 1,000 laboratories and offices in more than 100 regions.
