Intertek opens UK’s largest testing lab

Testing services provider Intertek has opened the UK’s largest textile testing laboratory in Leigh, near Manchester.

The site, which has been extensively renovated, will contain a textile flammability laboratory as well as a new chemical laboratory and will offer upgraded textile testing capabilities.

Speaking at the opening, Shadow Home Secretary Andy Burnham said: "I fully support what Intertek have done here. By creating a world class facility in Leigh, Intertek is bringing more businesses from across the world to the North West of England, helping to support local jobs and build business.”

The facility will provide testing, inspection and certification services for a broad range of products including sportswear, protective clothing, fashion apparel and footwear.
