Testing services provider Intertek has expanded the services offered by its softlines testing laboratory in Istanbul, Turkey, which serves the country’s textiles, apparel and footwear industry.

The new testing capabilities include the addition of a range of chemical tests to help manufacturers identify and manage restricted substances.

“With $26 billion in exports in 2015, Turkey is among the world’s top ten exporters of textiles and clothing,” said Neslihan Sözer Güllü, Intertek Turkey’s softlines business line leader. “We’ve added new capabilities for test methods like the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) moisture management, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) flammability, cotton linen fibre analysis, China’s voluntary FZ fibre analysis standards and antibacterial/antimicrobial testing to meet market demand.”

She added that Turkey was also among the top ten countries in the world for footwear manufacturing and that Intertek had expanded “both chemical and physical footwear testing capabilities”. This includes for the abrasion resistance of outsoles, upper sole adhesion and heel attachment.
