India to establish 40 new textile parks

India is to open 40 textile parks across nine states, according to Indian textiles minister, Panabaka Lakshmi.
These new parks have attracted investment of Rs35 billion ($763.3 million) under the Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP), and the government hopes around 15,000 textile jobs will be created as a result.
The zones will be located in: Maharashtra (nine), Tamil Nadu (eight), Andhra Gujarat (seven), Pradesh (five), Rajasthan (five), Punjab (three), Karnataka (one), Madhya Pradesh (one) and West Bengal (one).
