Nau receives ispo BrandNew award
US outdoor clothing company Nau has been presented with the ispo (6-9 February 2011) BrandNew Award in the Style category.
“Nau combines urban style and high end outdoor functionality on a unprecedented level,” the judges said.
Nau plans to launch a recycled polyester insulation for autumn 2011 that the company believes mimics down and provides warmth with less bulk. The insulation will feature Cocona activated carbon sourced from the industrial waste of coconut shells.
Additionally, Nau are noted as working on an organic cotton canvas that has been ‘waxed’; treated with a water-based polyurethane (PU) water repellent treatment that “never needs refreshing.”
Nau launched in 2007 but was given the BrandNew award because it is launching internationally through the trade show in 2011. This year’s winners were selected from 282 entries from 28 countries.
The ispo BrandNew said: “Nau designs fashion for nature enthusiasts. Its outdoor apparel combines hi-tech function and urban design with a high level of sustainable production. The company critically examines everything from the selection of raw materials and durability of the products, to the amount of energy used in production and waste management. The consistent implementation of an eco-friendly brand concept convinced the BrandNew jury to present the award.”
