India to increase textile parks to 25

The Indian government has drawn up plans to set up 25 new industrial parks across the country for the textile industry. Commerce and industry minister, Anand Sharma, who has responsibility for the textile sector, made the announcement on July 15.

Mr Sharma told Indian media that 25 new Schemes for Integrated Textile Parks would be part of a plan for the future of the industry that the government will announce in the coming weeks. Four integrated textile parks have already received the go-ahead and will be inaugurated soon in Maharashtra and Gujarat states.
