Chinese court declines Michael Jordan’s lawsuit
Further to the recent sportstextiles.com news story that US basketball player Michael Jordan has filed a lawsuit against a Chinese company for “unauthorised use” of his name and identity, a court in Beijing has declined to accept the lawsuit, according to a media reports.
Mr Jordan and his attorneys in Jun He Law Offices say the company “built a business” using Mr Jordan’s Chinese name, Qiaodan, without permission.
However, the Beijing court has responded to the lawsuit, stating that “Qiaodan” is not a name associated with Michael Jordan alone. Also, Jordan has been translated differently into Chinese, such as the Chinese translation of Jordan in Hong Kong, media reported, citing the court’s grounds to refuse the case.
