Zimbabwe hosts African Cotton Association congress

The African Cotton Association (ACA) is holding its tenth annual congress in Zimbabwe, at the resort town of Victoria Falls, from March 15–17. The aim of the organisation is to protect the interests of African cotton producers and the cotton value chain throughout the continent.

Godfrey Buka, director-general of the Cotton Ginners Association of Zimbabwe, told local media in advance of the congress that he expected about 150 delegates to attend. He said: “This is a great opportunity for organisations and business executives in Africa and from other parts of the world to meet and establish networks.”

He added that the global economic environment and the continued existence of subsidies in some cotton-growing countries would be among the topics for discussion at the event.
