Nike gives 770 pairs of spikes to Kenyan schools

US-based sports apparel manufacturer Nike has boosted Kenyan schools with running spikes worth over $139,590 for athletics development in learning institutions.

 

The 770 pairs of spikes were given through the local athletics governing body Athletics Kenya (AK) to the Ministry of Education to be distributed to various schools and institutions affiliated to AK across the country as a way of promoting athletics in the Kenya from the grassroots.

 

AK chairman Isaiah Kiplagat said that the donation will help in nurturing talent to add to Kenya’s athletic prowess in the future.

 

“We have been working closely with the Ministry of Education to develop youth athletics and today we donate to the spikes that will help in the development of young talents in School and institution,” said Mr Kiplagat.
