Timberland acquisition gives VF a 45% increase in Q2 outdoor sales

Clothing and footwear group VF Corporation has announced itsresults for its second quarter, ending June 30, 2012.

The group, whose brands include The North Face and Vans, achieved revenues of $2.1 billion during the quarter, up 16% on the same period in 2011, including $239 million in revenue from Timberland, which VF acquired last September.

For the first half of 2011, the group brought in revenues of $4.7 billion, an increase of 24% on the figure for the first six months of last year. Profits rose by 3% to $341 million.

Adding Timberland and former Timberland clothing brand Smartwool (acquired at the same time) meant that revenues for VF’s outdoor and action sports segment increased by 45% in the second quarter.
