Dance Direct was founded in 1999 by two former professional dancers, Cedric and Joy Grosjean, and has grown to become one of the largest e-commerce providers of dance apparel in the UK, France and Germany. The company sells ballet clothing, dancewear and footwear to dance instructors and consumers, offering more than 11,000 products.
Revolution director Jack Glover said: “There are numerous cross-sell opportunities available to the combined business including introducing Revolution’s dance recital costumes to the European market.”
US-based Revolution designs and manufactures dancewear and has created a niche selling directly to dance studios in the US and Canada. The company sells 400 of its own designs to about half of the 18,000 dance studios in the US, according to its chief executive Robb Lippitt. It is owned by private equity firm Incline Equity Partners.
