Running shoe brand chooses Pittards
24/09/2012
This represents a renewal of the partnership between Skora and Pittards following the brand’s use of leather in products in its 2012 collection. Skora says its aim is to put “the natural back into natural running” and it believes using “world-class luxury goat and sheepskin leather” helps it do this.
Skora says it likes material such as Pittards’ Armortan goatskin for shoe uppers and WR100X sheepskin for linings because they are “incredibly durable, with water resistance and breathability qualities that far exceed those of traditional leathers”. In addition, the footwear brand says: “For those whose runs often include puddles or creeks, the feel and suppleness of the goat and sheepskin leathers do not diminish through repeated wet-dry cycles.”
The principal model in which it will use the Pittards leathers in 2013 is a shoe called Core.
Company founder, David Sypniewski, said on announcing the details: “At Skora we believe that every runner deserves a better shoe designed to help them run real. Our partnership with Pittards helps us create unique shoes that fit the foot like no other shoe on the market, giving it real second-skin or extension-of-the-foot characteristics and appeal. We employ the best materials nature can provide for the comfort, flexibility, protection and durability we demand in our shoes, and are thrilled to continue our relationship with this legendary company.”
