Bemis partners Orvis for innovative waders

Bemis Associates, a producer of heat-activated films and tapes, has partnered with Orvis for the introduction of its most innovative waders, the Silver Sonics.

The patented SonicSeam technology features Bemis Sewfree adhesive and seam tape in the construction where stitched holes and double-reinforced seams were formerly used. Welding with Bemis adhesives allows the seam to maintain a low profile and reduces the potential for fabric abrasion.

Tim Daughton, product development specialist at Orvis, said: "A product is only as good as the components used to assemble it.  When we started working on the new Silver Sonic waders we wanted to engage with partners that produced high quality materials in an effort to deliver a final product that was truly best in class. Bemis is just such a partner and their seam tape, Sewfree adhesives and overlay film all play a critical role."

Orvis marketing director Tom Rosenbauer added: "Durability is a key factor in waders. They are subject to very tough conditions, like walking through prickly brush to get to a river or lake, stress when climbing over rocks and logs, and water temperatures from 75 degrees celcius down to 32 degrees. Plus, anglers sometimes wear waders for 12 hours or more."
