D3O strengthens its technical team

Grazyna Nitchener has joined the Brighton-based company as head of material development for the sports footwear market. Ms Nitchener brings to D3O more than 20 years’ experience in developing polyurethane (PU) materials.
At the same time, Alkis Karaolis joins as senior product designer. He has more than seven years’ experience in industrial engineering design, including in injection moulding.
Finally, Renata Valenca joins the company as senior polymer chemist, bringing a strong background in product engineering and material development and experience of working with multinational organisations, including Dow and Invista. She has developed new applications for PU products and developed new techniques to characterise molecular, compositional, rheological, and thermodynamic properties of polymers.
On announcing the appointments, chief product officer, Tim Brown, said: “We are delighted to welcome these new starters to the technology team as we accelerate our development cycle. We continue to receive heavy demand for our technology and are now able to offer a new range of impact-protection solutions to existing customers as well as developing new applications for new markets.”
D3O markets patented technology that can be used to produce material with high shock-absorbing properties. Its technology developments include lightweight PU solutions for athletic footwear, heat bonded protective layers featuring tear and abrasion resistance and coated textile solutions.
