Outlast launches PCM fibrefill

Phase change materials (PCM) manufacturer Outlast has developed a new fibrefill material for sleeping bags that uses the recently launched PCM polyester fibre and which it claims leads to a better night’s sleep.

The fibrefill manages the climate inside the bag proactively, compared with other technologies that only wick away humidity. Tests with the independent system THG SleepView indicated that it can reduce absolute humidity by 48% compared to a traditional sleeping bag. The material can also be used in duvets and pillows.

“This is another milestone for us and we are proud of this new, high performing development, which helps regulate the sleeping climate in an optimum way,” said Martin Bentz, managing director of Outlast Europe.

“Outlast technology works continuously to manage heat and moisture while reducing sweat production right from the beginning, so less humidity is created inside the bed. It influences a person’s overall comfort, and that leads to a better night’s sleep,” he added.
