Outlast heads into new territory with foray into apparel filling

Outlast Technologies, a regulating phase change materials (PCM) manufacturer, has created a new filling for apparel, blending PCM viscose fibres and polyester fibre balls.

After its successful PCM filling for the bedding market, the Spherix offering combines fibre balls with a short cut fibre for the first time.

“We are working with a highly filled PCM viscose fibre,” said Martin Bentz, managing director of Outlast Europe.

“With 7 dtex, the diameter of the viscose fibre is quite high, so we can reach an approximately four times higher performance compared to our standard PCM viscose fibre.”

The balls provide lightness, volume and loft, while the PCM viscose fibres manage temperature.
