Canadian snowboard brand Ripzone has hired a general manager and introduced a line that features “the most technical weather protection system” it has used.

Kris French joins the company from Nike Canada, where he held roles including national sales manager for sportswear and action sports.

The Trilogy collection features Outlast technology, which balances the temperature inside the jacket, storing excess heat then returning it later when needed.

Ripzone, along with women’s brand Powder Room, will also launch a ‘Canada capsule collection’ for winter ’13/14 with styles being entirely designed and made in Canada.

The X5 collection features Primaloft Eco insulation, which uses post-consumer recycled material to create thermally efficient, earth-friendly insulation. About 28 recycled bottles are used for each kilogramme, which equates to about six bottles per garment.
