Ispo Brand New winners named

From a total of 255 entries, winners in eight different categories have now emerged. The winning products will be on display in a dedicated Brand New area at the ispo exhibition in Munich, which next year takes place from February 3-6. In addition, sports retail group SportScheck is running a competition on its Facebook page to invite members of the public to nominate their favourite of all the category winners. This public choice award will remain open until January 30.
Most specific to clothing, the Brand New award for sportswear went to young UK running brand ashmei, whose running jacket impressed jury members thanks to its high level of breathability, as well as its low weight, fit and material selection (the jacket is made of natural fibres).
Los Angeles-based brand SpiritHoods took the prize for style for a “bear-look” hat with integrated headphones and integrated scarf that ends in bear-paw gloves. Hat purchases benefit wildlife protection.
Austrian company Splitsticks has won the winter hardware category for its binding system for split boards, which allows snow sports enthusiasts to turn a snowboard into skis and back again. For the summer hardware category, Munich-based A´etem with a waterproof backpack aimed at participants in the new sport of seatrekking, who snorkel and dive their way around coastlines.
In a new digital category, German firm Becoacht won thanks to an online platform it has created for bring athletes and coaches together. Another German company Shake Fit, which lets athletes configure their own nutrition drinks according to specific fitness requirements, won the Brand New award for the fitness category, which US innovation Soloshot, which enables cameras to focus automatically on a single athlete during competitions with multiple participants, took the prize for accessories.
Finally, non-profit organisation High Five, also from Germany, won the award for social awareness. It offers young people the opportunity to play sports and try out disciplines like snowboarding or skateboarding.
