Puma claims first in bodywear with built-in taping

Puma claims it is the first to bring to market a line that combines both compression and the principles of athletic taping, featured in its range of training tights, shorts and tops.
In Puma ACTV, elasticised silicone tape is placed on the inside of the garments to provide micro-massage in specific areas, which could enable a faster and more effective energy supply to the muscles. The range features reflective logos for visibility, mesh panels, zippered side pockets and dryCELL for wicking and comfort.
Puma RCVR is designed to maximise recovery post workout. It uses compression with athletic taping to support the most fatigued muscles, and also uses dryCELL technology.
“While compression apparel has been shown to reduce muscle vibration and promote faster recovery, Puma ACTV’s enhanced compression takes the notion of compression apparel one step further, offering enhanced compression coupled with the built-in athletic taping system for maximum benefit,” explains Thorsten Krauss, Puma’s global head of product line management for performance apparel.
The range, which uses Lycra Sport, won an award at ISPO Munich trade fair this week. One of the judges, Clare Varga, head of sports at trend forecaster WGSN, said: “Invista Lycra Support Energy is used to create effective compression and lasting recovery power while the Puma ACTV silicone print provides zoned microcompression."
