Outdoor Industries Association revamps board
14/03/2013
Stephen Newlands will take the role immediately, overseeing a restructured board that saw Corry Taylor step down as chairman and Hamish Dunn, brand director of Mountain Equipment, taking the place of Michelle Dickinson, who is moving to a job outside the outdoor industry.
Mr Newlands joined the board in 2011 and is a keen cyclist and skier. He was formerly a trainer for the British Association of Snowsports Instructors and an ISIA ski Instructor.
He said: “This year is going to be crucial for both the OIA and our trade as a whole, as we all continue to operate in an uncertain economic climate. The work that the association is doing to both support its members – small and large – and promote outdoor activities and our sector to a wider audience, is vital and of huge value.”
OIA chief executive Andrew Denton added: “With a combination of continuity and new names, the OIA board is populated by high-profile and high-calibre individuals who represent a wide cross-section of the outdoor sector.
"Stephen and Hamish bring great experience to their respective roles and both are very well-known and respected figures in our industry. As we continue to build our influence as an association and deliver dynamic and high impact projects such as Britain on Foot, the input of everyone on the board is going to be valuable and vital.”
