Huntsman and Lenzing to discuss fabrics of the future

Representatives from Lenzing and Huntsman will be among speakers at the London-based Future Fibres, Fabrics & Finishes conference, organised by The Textile Institute and The Society of Dyers & Colourists.

John Murphy of Huntsman will talk about the chemical company’s collaboration with Dyecoo to develop waterless dyeing as well as new approaches to cellulosic dyeing and fabric finishes such as Stormwear.

Jim Taylor, senior product manager at Lenzing, will discuss developments in man-made cellulose fibres from sustainable sources, the closed-loop eco-friendly production of Tencel and the solvent spinning process.

Cheryl Kindness of Camira Fabrics will present developments in bast fibres, new closed-loop polyester products and Camira’s work with Beyond Surface Technology on soil resistant finishes.

David Lussey of Peratech, a producer of quantum tunnelling composite [electrically conductive] material, will speak about smart textiles, wearable electronics and touch technology

The seminar will be held at the London College of Fashion on April 12.
