The German company has launched solvent-free raw materials for sports goods and apparel coatings which can be processed using the mechanically blown foam method. It says unlike the conventional coagulation process, this method does not involve the use of any toxic substances and uses less water and less than half as much energy.
Polyurethane high-performance coatings give products a high level of elasticity that doesn't fade and has only a very minimal effect on weight.
"Our solvent-free dispersions support the efforts of the sporting goods industry toward more sustainability," said Thomas Michaelis, head of textile coating for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The technology also enables the manufacture of solvent-free, colour-fast and abrasion-resistant synthetic leathers.
