Adidas partners Bayer for World Cup launches
Adidas teamed up with chemical group Bayer MaterialScience for components for its textile coatings used on apparel at the World Cup in Brazil.

Elastic surfaces printed on to the shirts and pants “store energy temporarily when stretched” said Bayer, returning it to the athlete as he or she moves. Bayer provided raw materials that ensure the coated bands return to their original shape after stretching.

Bayer researchers also developed a special plastic for the sole of adidas' new Samba Copa Mundial boot (pictured).
