Bayer MaterialScience has a hand in new football

30/05/2014
Bayer MaterialScience has said the official ball for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the adidas Brazuca, is able to offer the world’s top footballers improved ball control and touch by providing better grip and being “even more stable and rounder” than its predecessors, thanks in part to materials it has contributed to the project.

The cover of the Brazuca consists of five layers of specialty plastics from Bayer MaterialScience, which the company says help ensure that the ball returns to its original shape after being kicked while also making the surface “particularly durable”.

More than 600 professional players have tested the ball.
