Outdoor Industry’s new adviser to focus on tariff reform

US-based Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), which represents 4,000 manufacturers and retailers, has hired a trade policy adviser to promote its business goals, focusing on tariff reform, the US Outdoor Act and international trade agreements.

Rich Harper will work from OIA’s Washington DC offices, which the organisation established last year to advance the industry’s agendas in government.

Mr Harper previously worked as a legislative assistant for trade, foreign policy and defence for Senator Dianne Feinstein, advising on policy and legislative matters.

Kirk Bailey, OIA’s vice-president for government affairs, said: “With his 15 years on Capitol Hill, he is well-suited to help the outdoor industry engage congress and the administration to secure its trade and business policy objectives.”
