Textile machinery group Rieter has published its sustainability report for 2012, describing in detail the company’s progress in economic, social and environmental sustainability.

Among the highlights, the 2012 report says Rieter made substantial progress in reducing resources consumption at its production plants. For example, building renovations resulted in considerable energy savings at one plant in the Czech Republic and another one in China. And in Switzerland, where the company has its headquarters, waterless urinals installed in 2012 have achieved a saving of 600 cubic metres of water per year.

However, there is also intense focus on product and process innovations that will benefit textile companies using Rieter machinery. Among examples of this, the report describes a compact spinning innovation that gives an energy saving of 14% compared to first-generation machines of the same kind.
