08/09/2014

Textile machinery group Rieter reduced its energy consumption relative to sales by 15% in 2013, one of the findings of its sustainability review.

Orders rose 50% and sales increased 17% over 2012, and the Swiss company expanded its manufacturing capacity in China and India to be closer to its customer base.

The number of full-time employees rose 140 to 4,861 during the year, 5% of whom were apprentices.
“For the past five years or so Rieter has also been committed to providing facilities for future generations of employees in India and China as well as training apprentices at its European sites,” said CEO Norbert Klapper.

“Last year 62 young people at Rieter India and 27 at Rieter China took part in the vocational education and training programme.”

Water consumption relative to sales declined by 9% in 2013, but water consumption per employee increased by 2% due to higher output.
