Uzbekistan is the sixth largest cotton producer in the world with 4.6 million bales produced in 2011.
Bangladesh has also been holding talks with India over an agreement on cotton imports from there.
Figures from Bangladesh suggest the country’s textile industry is currently using 4 million bales of cotton a year, but that only 3% of this is being produced domestically.
