Uzbekistan building textile training park

05/07/2016
Uzbekistan has begun the construction of a textile training and research park within the campus of the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light industry, according to local media report. The project is being co-implemented by the Uzbek company Ozbekyengilsanoat and the South Korean ministry of commerce, industry and energy.

The establishment of the park, which is due to be completed in 2018, will help the Institute implement international training and research programmes related to the textile industry. It will enable the exchange of expertise and advanced technologies in order to develop the country’s textile industry. The park will also offer training for local people in the use of advanced information and communication technologies, specifically related to high value-added products such as finished fabrics and knitted goods.

The cost of the project is estimated to be $15 million, which would be provided by the South Korean government as part of its “Official Development Assistance” programme.
