US-based Zeal Optics has created what it claims are the first biodegradable sunglassses made with cotton, designed in Colorado and manufactured by Italian company Mazzucchelli.

The patent-pending lenses feature a plant-based e-llume lens, were two years in development and offer protection from UVA, B, and C

“The eyewear industry needs innovators,” said Joe Prebich, Zeal’s director of marketing. “It’s so exciting to think about how the brand can transform at retail around a product that has this type of ecological story behind it.”
