Kelheim shows new products at Dornbirn

11/09/2013
Bavarian viscose speciality fibre manufacturer Kelheim Fibres sent several speakers to the 52nd Manmade Fibres Congress at Dornbirn, September 11-13, to present a series of new products.

Research and development team member, Bernd Probst, presented a range of speciality fibres that protect products from illegal counterfeits with a visible or invisible fingerprint.

His colleagues, Dr Roland Scholz and Dr Nina Ko¨hne presented analysis of ionically activated viscose fibres and their applications. By using different technologies, Kelheim has said it can deliver fibres with cationic or anionic functional groups and thus controls the fibre’s properties. Particularly when it comes to ion-exchanging properties, fibres offer a distinct benefit. In contrast to ion-exchange resins, the diameter of the ionically functionalised fibres is considerably smaller and the active surface significantly larger. This means they can operate up to ten times faster.
