The Two Ten Footwear Foundation, a US-based charity for the footwear industry, has created a scholarship fund for military veterans working in or returning to the footwear industry.

The Footwear Warriors Scholarship Fund has been set up with $125,000, from rubber sole producer Quabaug Corporation, footwear brand Vibram and the Donahue family (Kevin Donahue is the chairman of Quabaug) – as well as contributions from Martin Berman, Micro-Pak, Mary Kuconis, MEK Search, Deer Stags, New Balance and Rocky Brands.

Neal Newman, president of the foundation, said: "This scholarship is designed to help our veterans get the additional training and/or education needed after their service to bridge the gap between military and civilian life."

The fund is donation driven with a goal of $250,000, which will yield $12,500 in scholarships on a yearly basis.

Since 1969, Two Ten has awarded over $18 million in scholarships to the footwear community.
