Brazil imposes antidumping duties on nylon fibre imports

17/09/2013
Brazilian imports of nylon from China, South Korea, Thailand and Taiwan will carry an extra duty for up to four months after the Brazilian government ruled in favour of provisional antidumping measures.

Depending on the company and country of origin, importers bringing nylon fibre into Brazil will have to pay up tp $2,400 per tonne in antidumping duties.

The Brazilian government approved the measure because it was satisfied exporters in the four Asian countries were shipping nylon fibre to Brazil at a lower cost than they were charging in their domestic markets.

Nylon fibre is an important raw material for many Brazilian manufacturers of swimsuits, shorts and and other sports apparel.
