RadiciGroup publishes sustainability report
28/11/2013
The Italian group achieved a 91% water savings due to recycling in 2012, and gained 41% of its energy from renewable resources.
It measured the environmental impact of its production chain from base polymer to synthetic fibres using production chain product category rules, which establish how to measure and quantify environmental impact.
Angelo Radici, president of RadiciGroup, said: “I believe what is really important is active sustainability made up of tangible action, innovation and continuous improvement. This is the path that we have chosen to travel, because sustainability, in all its facets, is not only good but also good for business.”
Its chemical division, Radici Chimica, recently signed an agreement with the Italian Ministry for the Environment to test a new method to determine the product and organisational environmental footprints for its production chain. The methodology was set out in recommendations issued by the European Commission with the objective of harmonising methodologies and providing reliable information to consumers.
