Radici increases focus on sustainability

Radici Novacips, the owner of RadiciGroup Plastics, has implemented a new Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology to calculate the environmental footprint of its nylon 6.6 ranges as part of an increasing focus on sustainability.

“Our customers and partners’ attention to environmental issues has changed a lot during the last few years,” said Cesare Clausi, Europe business manager of RadiciGroup Plastics. “Today, our target markets demand materials with maximum performance and minimal environmental impact, and the trend is likely to grow. This is now the area we are focusing on, following a scientific, objective and verifiable approach.”

Stefano Alini, quality and environment manager, said the objective is to delve deeper into the PEF, by establishing a correlation between the impact category for a given product and its application performance. “Product impact categories do not suffice by themselves when assessing the environmental footprint,” he said. “The PEF statement of compliance for the Radilon A RV 300 range indicators must also be measured and taken into account. Raw material mapping alone can be misleading.”
