Indian market research company Transparency has said in a new report that the global protective clothing market will grow by 11.5% per year to be worth $3.5 billion by 2019.

The company estimated that protective clothing, including flame-retardant apparel, chemical-protection apparel and clean-room clothing, was a $1.7 billion market in 2012.

Garments to protect wearers from hazardous chemicals accounted for 34% of the market in 2012, Transparency said. However, it said clean-room clothing was the fastest-growing segment in the market.

It named Kimberly-Clark, Honeywell Safety Products, Ansell Protective Solutions and Mine Safety Appliances as the dominant players, with a combined share 16% in 2012.
