Textile certification body Oeko-Tex has issued a statement in reaction to a new campaign from non-governmental organisation Greenpeace.

At the start of January the Zurich-based organisation published a report criticising apparel brands for bringing to market children’s clothing containing harmful substances.

In its statement, Oeko-Tex has said: “Children’s clothing that meets the strict requirements of Oeko-Tex Standard 100 does not pose any health risks to consumers. ” It said all the parameters for which Greenpeace had tested samples were included in the Standard 100 requirements.
