ZDHC outlines progress in 2013
The Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals Group has published its 2013 annual report, outlining highlights from the year that include conducting 22 pilot audits at supplier locations.
It developed a benchmarking study which involved analysis of 150 analytes at 20 sites and issued a framework for the prioritisation of hazardous chemicals.
It established a restricted substances list which will be published this year and initiated research on per- and polyfluorinated chemical (PFC) alternatives.
A chemical management training curriculum will be delivered to suppliers in Asia this year.
The initiative is led by members including adidas, Benetton, Jack Wolfskin, Li Ning, New Balance, Nike and Puma. The brands collaborate with associate members – the Association of the German Sporting Goods Industry, European Outdoor Group and GermanFashion Modeverband Deutschland.
