Fruit of the Loom to move production to Honduras

08/04/2014
Apparel brand Fruit of the Loom, which at one time employed 11,000 people in the US state of Kentucky, has announced that it will close its last production plant there before the end of 2014. It will move its apparel manufacturing operations to Honduras.

Fruit of the Loom will keep its corporate headquarters in Kentucky, in Bowling Green, and will continue to run a distribution centre there, but the closure of its last production plant, in Jamestown, will cost 600 jobs.

Closure will take place in phases between June and December.
