Emana is a polyamide 6.6-based Far Infrared (FIR) yarn, which, when in contact with the skin, interacts with the body and improves blood circulation, the company has said. Clinical tests point to benefits such as improved skin elasticity and a reduction in the signs of cellulite, the Belgian company has claimed.
“The patent is the final confirmation of the [benefits of the] FIR technology used in Emana,” said Gabriel Gorescu, marketing and innovation manager of the Fibras global business unit at Solvay at the time of the announcement. “The patent protects our product against reproduction and use by competitors. It also recognizes many years of research and investment that went into this project from its conception.”
