Nepalese outdoor brand donates to families of avalanche victims

Nepal-based outdoor brand Sherpa Adventure Gear is to donate funds and a portion of sales to children of Sherpas who lost their lives on an Everest expedition in April.

The company has dedicated a portion of its sales to the education of Sherpa children since its launch in 2003 and raises additional funds through special events. Education is expensive in Nepal and schooling is financially out of reach for most families, according to Tashi Sherpa, Sherpa’s CEO.

He said: "26 children have been left behind by the unsung heroes who died on April 18. The outpouring of emotions coming to us from around the globe strengthens our purpose to help future generations. People have asked us how to help.  We can help by supporting the children of stricken families who lost a father and now have no other means to pay for school.”
