Confirmation of Polartec-Pontetorto legal dispute

Performance textiles developer and producer Polartec has now confirmed that it has filed a formal complaint in Germany against Italian rival Pontetorto for alleged patent infringement. Pontetorto and its German agent, Christian Weichert, have, in turn, confirmed that they intend to defend themselves against the accusation.

Polartec has claimed that sales of Pontetorto’s Technostretch and Tecnopile products are in breach of a patent it holds, European Patent EP 1312710B1, covering grid-back, knit construction textiles.

Pontetorto and Christian Weichert issued a statement on July 21 saying they are taking legal advice and are “preparing to defend their rights”.
